Arrival in Cape Town
You are collected from Cape Town International Aiport. Your driver will transport you to the 5 star Saltycrax Backpackers to get settled in. Spend the day exploring the area or relaxing on the beautiful white beach of Blouberg. Tonight, you are treated to a Delicious dinner.
Cape Town to Oudsthoorn
Marvel at the scenery of Route 62, the world’s longest wine route, which changes from semi-desert to rugged mountainscapes. Sample wine, including top South African ports, along Route 62, the longest wine route in the world. Get beak to beak with the world’s biggest bird at one of the many ostrich farms in Oudtshoorn. Overnight at Oudtshoorn. Get the opportunity to indulge in an ostrich braai (bbq). (Optional)
Oudsthoorn to Sedgefield
Squeeze, twist and wriggle your way through the Cango Caves adventure route. Paddle through the stunning scenery of Wilderness National Park along the Touws River. Unwind on Myoli Beach; a place that oozes serenity and offers spectacular sunsets. Spend the night right by the beach and fall asleep to the sounds of the ocean
Sedgefield to Jeffrey’s Bay
Soak in the views of Knysna and its surrounds from atop the sandstone heads. Experience a rush like no other when you jump from the world’s highest bridge Bungy at Bloukrans (Optional). Hike through the luscious Tsitsikamma forest to its famous swing suspension bridges and secret beach. Spend another two nights by the ocean, this time in Jeffrey’s Bay.

Swim and relax at one of Jeffrey’s Bay many pristine beaches. Feed your sense of adventure and surf JBay’s world-famous ‘supertubes’ or opt to stay dry and sand board through the dunes instead (Optional). Shop your way through the big-brand surf factory stores of Jeffrey’s Bay – where bargains are plentiful.
Jeffrey’s Bay to Cintsa
Enjoy a 4-hour morning drive, in the tour van, through SA’s third largest National Park, Addo, which is home to 600+ elephants along with prolific bird and wildlife. Travel through the Wild Coast (formerly Ciskei), a place of both natural and cultural wonderment. Cintsa, a typical rural Xhosa village, welcomes us for the next two nights.

Relax at your accommodation, explore the local village, or enjoy the optional activities available. From yoga classes to horse riding on the beach to a Xhosa cultural experience – there are plenty of activities to keep you busy in Cintsa (Optional).
Cintsa to Coffee Bay
Pay a visit to Mvuzo – the birth-place of world icon and South African struggle leader, former president Nelson Mandela. The journey into the iconic worldleader continues with a visit to the Nelson Mandela Museum, situated in his home town and place of burial, Qunu. Travel further along South Africa’s east coast, through the former Transkei. Arrive in the ruggedly wild yet beautiful seaside village of Coffee Bay where you’ll stay for the next two nights.
Full day in Coffee Bay
Visit an incredible ocean rock formation known as the “hole in the wall” and spend time relaxing on the beach. Embark on an optional full-day hiking trip across the picturesque cliffs of Coffee Bay to reach the famous “hole in the wall”. Weather permitting (Optional).
Coffee Bay to Drakensberg
Mountains A visit with a local Xhosa family gives you the chance to learn more about this local culture and its traditions. Discover more about the Father of our democratic nation, Nelson Mandela, with a visit to a museum in Mthatha. We leave the coast behind as we make our way into the imposing, yet majestic, Drakensberg Mountains. For two nights we’ll call this mountainous wonderland home.
Full day in the Drakensberg Mountains
Opt to hike one of the many trails in the Drakensberg – ranging from easy to difficult. Get another stamp in your passport with a full-day optional tour to Lesotho. You’ll also travel through the stunning scenery of the Sani Pass. (Optional)
Drakensberg Mountains to Dundee
Morning tea with a local Zulu family will leave you with a deeper understanding of another of South Africa’s local cultures. Meander through the midlands to arrive at the cascades of the spectacular Howick Waterfall. Sample local brews with a beer-tasting at Nottingham brewery. Relax for the night in the quaint KwaZulu Natal town of Dundee.
Dundee to Nelspruit
Explore the history of the Great South African war at the Talana Battlefields museum and park. Stop at the Blood River monument which marks the site of one of the country’s greatest battlefields. We spend the night in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga – one of the gateway towns into the Kruger National Park.
Nelspruit to Kruger National Park
We spend the day in the tour van searching for the Big 5 and other animals in the Kruger National Park. Round off your day in nature with a 4×4 sunset game drive in Kruger. Spend the night in the wild beauty of the Greater Kruger
Kruger National Park to Hazyview
Wake-up for an early morning guided-hike inside Kruger National Park (Optional). We once again travel through the Kruger, in the tour van, to spot those animals we may not have seen yet, and to get those picture-perfect safari photos. We spend the night just outside of the Kruger National Park, in the little town of Hazyview.
Hazyview to Johannesburg
Take in the truly astounding views of waterfalls, rock formations, and canyons of “Gods Window”. Discover the heritage and culture of this region’s local people with a tour of a Shangaan Cultural Village. We tour the historic town of Pilgrims-Rest, the home of South Africa’s gold rush and a National Monument. Travel through the panorama route to reach Johannesburg by evening.
