You are welcomed at the airport and taken to the 5-star SaltyCrax Backpackers in Table View. The hostel is within walking distance from all bars, restaurants, the beach, shops and transport terminals. Table View is famous for kitesurfing, water sports and its amazing views of Table Mountain from Kite Beach. In the evening you will meet the staff and other guests.
A traditional South African BBQ called a Braai will be cooked on the fire for you to enjoy while meeting the other guests from around the world.
Start the day with breakfast at SaltyCrax Backpackers.
Your friendly SaltyCrax staff member will teach you about the bus system before you head out to Cape Town city centre.
You have two options to choose from:
Do a walking tour visiting historical sites like the Castle of Good Hope and the Grand Parade. Learn about life under apartheid in South Africa at the Parliament Buildings and the District Six Museum. Shop for African arts and crafts in Greenmarket Square and St George’s Mall.
The hop on hop off bus pass:
Board this topless bus that takes you to all the sites you need to see, such as Camps Bay, the V&A Waterfront and Table Mountain… all from the comfort of your seat!
In the evening head back on the local bus to Table View where you can join the staff, guests and the locals at one of the restaurants or bars along the beachfront in Table View – all within rolling distance from the hostel where you will be staying the night.
Today you will explore the splendour of the Cape Peninsula on a Cape Point Tour. The tour follows the Atlantic Seaboard, past Clifton & Camps Bay to the fishing hamlet of Hout Bay. A cruise to Duiker Island to see the colony of Cape Fur Seals is optional. Continue along the scenic Chapman’s Peak Drive to Boulders Beach to meet a colony of rare Jackass Penguins (Own expense).
At the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve you can cycle through the reserve. You stop for a picnic lunch before climbing to the lighthouse. After taking in the amazing views you slowly head back to Table View past the white beaches of Kommetjie and Scarborough.
The Wine Route tour is mellow and involves no exercise – other than lifting your wine glass. You will visit three regions of the Cape Winelands: Stellenbosch, Franschhoek and Paarl, with a tasting in each region, a cellar tour at one of the farms and a picnic lunch. The wine farms offer a variety of white and red cultivars, as well as their own blends and styles. We allow enough time for each tasting to fully appreciate and enjoy the wine master’s art.
You can spend the day relaxing on the beach or go on an adventure like shark-cage diving, skydiving or sandboarding. For other options on what you can do check out our activities. (Own expense).
After your free day you will arrive back at the backpackers where you can share your stories from the past few days over a drink with the other guests. If you want to, venture off to explore Table Views nightlife.
The week is spent on your Standard English Course. Lessons are held from Monday to Friday from 09:00am to 12:40pm.
You will move to a hostel in Cape Town center close to the Language school where you will stay in a twin room.
