The Kruger National Park was established in 1898 to protect the wildlife of the South African Lowveld and is over 2 million hectares in size. The diversity of its life forms is incomparable to any other and until today the Park is a world leader in advanced environmental management and conservation.
The Kruger National Park is the home of more than 500 bird species, 100 species of reptile and 150 mammal species, including the Big 5 (elephant, rhinoceros, buffalo, lion and leopard) and the endangered African wild dog.
