Outside & Garden spaces
An incredible landscape of greenery lays behind our gate. Gardens have a way of bringing people together, and we have made this especially possible with many harmonious communal spaces plotted around.
You’ll notice many up-cycled pallet wood furnishings; we believe that creating a sustainable environment in which tourism can flourish is the best mindset.
Near the main building, our hand-crafted pallet-wood loungers have become ‘one’ with the garden. Tucked away between the trees, boasting a hammock and plenty of seating for all to join – is the bonfire pit, ready for the braai and festivities to begin.
Behind our Lapa lounge, you’ll find our cold-cuzzi, perfect for taking a nice dip on those hot summer days.
Lapa Lounge - Reception & Adventure center
Our Lapa lounge & reception are the points of call for all your needs and desires during your stay. Lapa lounges are commonly known to be used for outdoor meals and parties. Saltycrax’s Lapa is no different, and on certain days of the week, you can experience it for yourself. Bi-weekly, a traditional South African braai or Potjiekos, is served for dinner. These events are not merely just for food to be eaten, but for the festivities and company to be enjoyed while it is prepared.
Come hang out at our Lapa and chat with the local staff about the latest news, what to do and where to go. Find out about exciting tours and activities running, and let us take any worry off your shoulders by arranging it all for you. With 15 years of backpacking & adventure tourism experience, we’ll ensure you travel with reliable and ethical tour providers so that you can get the best for your buck.
Inside & Living areas
Inside the main house, you’ll find a large living room and fully equipped self-catering kitchen. When deciding on furnishings, we went for comfort over style, to ensure you have that spot to get comfortable after a long day, watch Netflix or call people back home with our complimentary WIFI.
In the kitchen, you’ll find all the cookware you need to prepare your meals, but for those lazy or long days – we have a menu of delicious home-cooked dinners that you can order. If you forgot to order dinner, no stress – there are several food delivery services around the area including Uber Eats, Mr D & local restaurants direct. Feel free to chat to reception about signing up for our Salty dinner or local restaurant recommendations.
Our complimentary self-service breakfast consists of cereals, muesli, yoghurt & fruit, as well as various loaves of bread and spreads.
Not your average hostel
We aren’t your average brick hostel; Saltycrax is a converted property with many spacious communal areas, perfect encouragement to meet fellow travellers and guests alike. Each room is unique and styled to its own aesthetic; no two are alike. Accommodating up 30 guests at once, a stay at Saltycrax ensures a personalised stay in a unique atmosphere, completed with local culture, luscious gardens, sufficient wind and waves nearby and a nightlife like no other.
